IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager V3.1 software, an extension of IBM Systems Director, will be available on Linux on POWER, Linux on x86, and Windows to help you monitor and manage the power and thermal usage of systems in your IT environments. Originally designed to support IBM BladeCenter and System x, this enhanced energy management technology now supports additional IBM servers, including POWER systems as well as storage devices. This is the only energy management software tool that can provide a single view of the actual power used across multiple platforms as opposed to the benchmarked power consumption. Active Energy Manager can effectively allocate, match, and cap power limits in the datacentre at the system, chassis, or rack level. By enabling these power management technologies, users can effectively manage their systems while improving their cost of computing.
